engine color question
Did any of the Mercury engines ever come from the factory with a gold painted block and black valve covers? If so what year and model? just trying to satisfy my own curiosity. Thanks, ---Jim

You are trying to duplicate the looks of a 55/56 MERC install correct? I remember you acquired a set of cast alum MERCURY script rocker covers?

Re: engine color question
The color info at this website / link is incomplete and may have typos on some of their pages, but I'll share it anyway.
http://www.y-block.info/enginecolor.html their 'Home' page... http://www.y-block.info/main.html . Last edited by dmsfrr; 11-29-2019 at 09:35 PM. Reason: add 2nd link |

Re: engine color question
Kultulz, not really trying to replicate exactly, just some thing close. I will try and attach what I have done so far. this has been done for a year now. just trying to find time to swap out the engines. the block has been painted since this pic. and the eng. is complete ready to drop in. when I get time to take a current pic. I will post it here.

1956 MERC used differing rocker cover colors to show HP Rating of the particular engine (312). It's looking good Jim ...

Re: engine color question
The Mercury 410 in the 60s was like the Thunderbird 390 except it was backwards. Black engine with gold valve covers.
