Re: Look What the Model T Guys are Doing...
A Model T block that still needs major machine work done to it for $9000 is way out of my budget.

Re: Look What the Model T Guys are Doing...
$9,000... Seems a tad high... A new running engine (new block, new head, etc. should be $6,000 or less..

I feel as though you could get a complete (in rough shape) running car for that....

Re: Look What the Model T Guys are Doing...
There is a really nice T on Craigslist right now for 9000.00. That's a ton of money for a partially machined block. Wow.

I was wondering about the comment regarding the model A guy not following up on the casting source. Has that guy given up or gone in another direction casting wise? |

It is a five main block not a stock three main. You guys are trying to compare apples to oranges.

Re: Look What the Model T Guys are Doing...
It is just a T engine.
Finish it on a belt sander and your drill press in no time. |

Re: Look What the Model T Guys are Doing...
I'd guess a hefty proportion of that $9k is the custom Crower crank and rods....

I would suggest to stick it in an $8000 dollars car is a total waste of money. I have a totally rebuilt roadster that I would be lucky to get that much for. It's like putting a $500 dollar horn on a $100 bicycle. Wayne |

Just wondering is this 9K T block has Winfields 2 up/ 2down crank Also, wondering if anyone here knows Schubert, as he may have a lead for us (A/B guys) to obtain 5 main full B cranks somewhat reasonable Nice looking 'near finished' product, indeed. |

Re: Look What the Model T Guys are Doing...
Rick,
this arrangement does not need the Winfield two up-two down assembly. It has 4 intake ports. $9k, that's about right for assembly with Crower crank and rods John

Re: Look What the Model T Guys are Doing...
I guess there must be a huge outlay in pattern and test casting costs even before a block is ready for sale.
I figure there would be an economy of scale with casting but how many blocks would any one want to stock up on without knowing who would be willing to make a purchase commitment... |
