Those familiar with the hot rod side of the early Ford hobby will be familiar with Pat Ganahl.
The word is that he passed away due to a motor sport related incident yesterday.
Very sad. He will be sorely missed.

Really sad to report the loss of Pat Ganahl in a dragster crash .. I don’t know details and haven’t found a full report.
Those of us that know know … a true hot rodder nostalgia racer gifted writer and historian of hot rodding history.

Oh, man. Pat "Too tall" Ganahl was a truly gifted writer and hot rodder. I've been getting his monthly articles for quite a while now and he really had a great way of informing and entertaining through his writing. He'll be sorely missed.

I remember reading his articles back in the early 1970's. I think he had a 48 Chevy with a hopped up six cylinder engine. Neat guy. R.I.P.

That sucks big time. And while some will say "Pat died doing what he loved best" - we also know he would have preferred to be around a bit longer.

Also, there is a reason that modern racecars have roll-cages and the multitude of safety systems built into them that they do - to save lives.

One look at this car and I shudder to think what happened to Pat . . . regardless of the speed it happened at.

Very sad. I have been reading his articles for years and years and have been getting his monthly newsletter on the computer. Definitely an icon in the hot rod world. He will be missed.

This is terrible news.

I thought the car looked familiar and it is indeed the "Ike Iaconio dragster" from 1958. It appeared on the cover of Hot Rod in 1959. I remember when I first saw it and it was a thing of beauty. It was powered by a 320" GMC with a 12-port head. Not only have we lost a great man, but also perhaps an iconic vehicle.

Gosh, that's terrible news. Just doesn't seem fair. His contribution to "hot rodding" were immense. A huge loss, for sure. Mat Pat Rest in Piece.
