I am almost finished restoring my 29 fordor sedan however the light switch and wiring harness are complete junk. They are nos repro's from about 30 years ago. Who makes/ sells the best quality wiring harness and light switch?

Whatever you do be very careful about the Stop Light switch. The one Vintiques sells can be pulled through the rear hole and short out the wiring.

Upon installing my second new wiring harness in my '28 Tudor, I fixed this by stripping the guts out of the switch and installing a rear brake switch from a Honda motorcycle. I probably should have taken pictures, but the smartass phone was smarter than me at the time.

Also, if you are not building a "points car" I would not use the solid rod to connect the switch to the brake pedal, I would use a spring just a bit stronger than the return spring in the switch.

If you need more info PM me and I will see what I can to help ya.

J.C.

I agree that Sacraento makes a good harness and I would recommend that you not Mickey Mouse it as suggested in the previous post. After all this is a Model A and not a rat rod. Wayne

I think the OP is asking about the light switch at the base of the steering column.

My vote is with Tyree Harris...I asked him to make my harness for my early 1929 Tudor to specs according to the drawings specific for that time period and he did it perfectly.

Got the same type of harness from others but were not done to specs.

I was asking about the switch at the base of the steering column. Sorry if I did not make that clear. Thanks for the information DaWizard, I did not know the stop light switch could be a problem.

I thought that's what u were asking about and to me your question was very clear, but then for some reason brake switch info popped up.. i use Brattons harnesses they look and fit fine... the repo ilght switches all suck the big one so try and stay with an original....
The last time i heard tyree harris was not making custom harnesses for fine point judging just the standard repop

A little off topic but does anybody make a harness with the wires for turn indicators built in? Seems an obvious thing to do to me. If no one is doing it and takes the idea on, I want royalties!!

TYREE is the best in the business BUT he no longer makes SHOW HARNESS'S

NOW why do you want a REPO light switch, You can find originals that will always work at swaps. BUT if you want the best repo then like other A&L is the only place to buy it

I spoke to Tyree Harris and he makes the same high quality harness he always made but he will give you a disclaimer for fine point judging because of a deduction someone got over the length or color of a horn wire. Of course he was blamed by the owner.

Agree with others on Tyree Harris tell him what you are trying to do signals etc he will make a harness that is right for your car. He also uses a toggle switch for the turn signals and can show you how to use your tail lights to also function with the standard bulb.
