Model B Distributor Centrifugal Weights
I have a B distributor and upon inspection I noticed that when I move the centrifugal weights out from their home position, one weight is stopped short by the spring holder and cannot hit the inside of the distributor housing, while the other weight does not hit it's spring holder and can swing out all the way and hit the indie of the distributor housing. Which one is correct? Does anyone know if the weights should be allowed to go out all the way and actually hit and rub against the inside round surface of the housing? Or perhaps I'm just missing something here?

Re: Model B Distributor Centrifugal Weights
Both weights should be equally restrained by springs and the weights should not come even close to the wall of the housing. Are you missing a spring on the errant weight?

I'm sorry, disregard this post. I was examining the weights with the cam base assembly removed and nothing was limiting the travel of the weights. Back assembled, I see it is fine.

Such true honesty & integrity you have displayed in your reply no 3. Not many of us will ever want to admit it, (but even when young), at times, "all" of our brains will just ease into "PARK". |
