Default proper finish on '32 fuel pick-up assy?

Can someone help with the proper finish on the fuel pick-up assembly (screws into top of gas tank) on a '32 chassis? In Dave Rehor's '32 Restoration Guide, I couldn't find any description of proper finish, but there's a picture of a chassis that shows it looking like it has a bright finish, perhaps cad plating. However, the originals I have don't show any evidence of that. Any good insights? Thanks

Bruce,

My experience with originals is that most, but not all of the steel portion of the tank gauge unit were cadmium plated with the rest bare steel.
