Default 1940 ford deluxe convertible chassis dimensions?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a chassis diagram for the 1940 Deluxe Convertible similar to the one for the coupe I've attached. Like to get a copy for my records please.

Yes but I bet he’s too busy working on it rather than sitting at his computer!

I think the 38 restoration book says the cross members are a little heavier, the rails the same

Fantastic , thanks Ken! Where are these available for other years and models, do you know? I got a PM and he was interested in a 37 sedan delivery.

Appreciate you posting this for my 40!

Someone may jump in and correct me, but I think they appeared in some Lorin Sorenson books. The Early Ford V-8 Club used them in their "Pictorial Register" published in about 1967 and in the "V-8 Album" first published in 1985. You can find the V-8 Album on eBay and other sites.

I've seen them for 1934 so can only guess they were available each year (at minimum) after that.
I'd be willing to bet they are available through the Benson Ford Research Center for all years.

The salesman's handbooks have a similar diagram of a Fordor Sedan with various measurements on one page. They have a second page that has the exact measurement for each passenger model. Plus there is a third page with Station Wagon dimensions. Other pages for the Mercury and one diagram for each truck model.

It seams like they added several fittings (crossmembers) on the frame in order to hold the convertible bodies more securely. I don't know if the rails are any different or not. Wescott's Auto has some frame info for the 35 thru 40 cars but I don't if it's what you might be looking for to add to the body diagram. There are also differences at the front for the low mounted radiator and fan on the 39 deluxe & 40 models.
