Default Choosing a camshaft for my flathead

I have a 40 mercury flathead that needs a camshaft. I am using a offenhauser 2x2 with 97's. It is all stock besides the intake. What cam should I buy.

I've been a fan of Iskenerian for decades. You might want to look up Isky Cams and give them a call.

Isky Racing Cams

They have about 4 grinds for the venerable old flatheads.

Patrick,
I ran an Iskenderian 400 Jr. in my 1/4 X 5/16" Flathead, with 3 2's. It was a good all around running cam.

I remember the '400' as a comp cam with a nice rough idle [ I like that] that worked well on a good hot street engine. I don't know if they make it or have changed it over the years.

Try your question in the V8 section which is far more appropriate! Wayne

The 400 jr. in my opinion is too much cam for a mild street engine like yours. I would use something milder, like a Winfield SU1R
