Default 1932 exhaust pipe hangers?

Hi,

Looks like there is no source for 32 exhaust/tailpipe hangers, at least that I can find. Has anyone used later year hangers successfully? The one that would be perhaps the hardest is the one that mounts on the rear frame cross-member, adjacent to the hole for the pipe.

Thanks

At one time Mike McKinnett in OR reproduced the entire exhaust system both early and later, including hangers. Not sure of the spelling of his last name, might be McKennett. I think his shop is in Gresham Or.

Your second spelling of Mike's name is correct. The address of his business, Restorations and Reproductions, has a Portland street address. I'm pretty sure that not a single piece of his outstanding exhaust system reproductions remains, but no harm in asking.

While it is a bit of sin to do so, it is pretty easy to modify an easier-to-find '33-'34 tailpipe hanger (at the rear cross member) to create the '32 version.

Hi Corndog,

I can't send a picture until after Mother's Day. I'll then be able to send a picture from The 32 Ford book that I have. From memory, it clamps around the tailpipe just in front of the hole for the same and has a rubber biscuit and bolts to a hole adjacent to the large hole for the pipe.

Appreciate you replying!

Regards,
Glenn

Paul,

While not the '32 hanger in question, it could easily be made into one as its "tail" is more than long enough. That's what I've had to resort to of late.

Jim,

The hanger (clamp/bracket) at the rear cross member is common for both fours and V8s.

A couple of different versions I have made over the past few years. They were on hot rods so did not have to look like originals. But they are made of stainless steel.

Very nice. I've used those torca clamps on motorcycles before and they're very good.

I agree. I've taken some off a 34 big truck that could easily be shortened and bent to mimic a 32.
