I don't know about the transmission kit you are using, but I do know something about welding. Those weld beads on the end of the radius rods were very cold with zero penetration. Of course they can be saved, and rewelded properly, but it looks like you made up your mind to replace the kit. For one thing I would certainly contact the people that sold the kit and let them know about the shoddy weld, you may save someone's life.
