Interesting. I was just there last week, as I needed some trans lube to top off my 3 speed. Did not see Mike, just one of his guys. Not a lot of stuff going on…. Incoming UPS piled up and sitting outside. No other customers in the store.

Nothing is the same after Covid- 19. Ever heard of it ?
I will order a single part for a late model or Classic / vintage, without talking to a person on the phone. NOT a person, but someone who actually knows of said parts , can go check that said parts are in house. And will actually send a confirmation email that parts are on the way.
The days of click on part, buy part, then wait for part are long gone.

This may be good advice for some vendors but not all. Two come to mind immediately. First is Joe's Antique Auto. Until recently you did actually talk to someone when you placed an order but now it is all online. BUT with Joe's there is never any funny business. Period. 2nd is Concours parts in Carson City, NV. I always order online with no problems. In fact they called me once to check on a heater blower I ordered. My '54 Ranch Wagon is 6 volt but I converted it to 12 volts so I ordered a motor for a 12 volt '56. They just wanted to verify that I wanted a 12 volt unit. Maybe if you're dealing with Mac's or someone similar your advise is spot on but not with all vendors. JMO.

bat, I purposely did not call out a single vendor.
My point was , Pre Covid -19 . Order parts anywhere , Parts on the way
Post Covid -19, Call , Verify parts in hand, Then order.
Good to hear you have good results with your personal vendors.

Like Gary ("Krylon32") says...."It ain't the same"!

That has nothing to do with Covid 19. There was a recent death in the hierarchy at "The Early Ford Store", and things just ain't the same as before that loss of leadership. Coop

I live on the west coast surrounded with EFV8 stores and prefer to deal first with Joes antique auto or Third Gen Auto.

Joe said he wastes too much time on the phone and people can order off the web. I suppose you can email with inquiries. Still the same great guy and service.

X2. After my first on line order with Joe's I sent an email saying how well it went and he responded with a thank you in a timely manner. He is still on top of things, just trying to keep competitive in these trying times.

I heard that after McGrath Sr. passed away, his son there has little knowledge of the business or parts. I have never been there but a friend who often stopped to talk to Bill informed me of this.

Unless things have changed recently, you still get a real person on the phone at C and G Parts.

Similar story, I ordered a set Johnson lifters from H&H flat head in California was billed and after 6 weeks and many calls and emails was told they were on back order. Not the H&H of old, nine weeks and still waiting. Tim

You might give Red's Headers a call for adjustable lifters.

I agree, Tom. It's either Kyle, Joe, or Lee, and in my experience, the service couldn't be better!!!

Bought everything I needed for my 8ba rebuild from Red's except for new valves and I should have bought them as well instead of the ones off Ebay.
