Default 8BA in '40 pick up--hoses

Installing an 8BA in my '40 1/2 ton with stock radiator. Am using the Bob Drake water outlet thermostat housing with the larger hose diameter. Wondering what my best option is for the top radiator hose. Thanks for any help.

Go to your local plumbing or hardware store and pick a pair of these - I used them in my old 40 coupe and they worked great. You will also need a steel pipe to transition from the 8ba hose to the smaller end of this reducer. Worked great for 15+ years for me ….

The ones I get are a drain trap connector from ACE 44618

I think what he’s asking is if anyone knows of a 1 3/4”hose that will fit his application. He’s already solved the water neck problem by using the replacement ones that will accept the larger hose.

I make a pattern out of old pieces of hose and some plastic pipe. Once I get the correct shape I go to the local Napa store and compare it to their hose selection Many times you will probably have to buy a longer hose and cut off one end to make it fit.
Save the hose number for the future if you need to replace them.

If you have the thermostat housings with the 1-3/4" outlet, why Can't you use stock 40 type hoses and just shorten the long horizontal part?
I did exactly that on my 40 coupe with a German motor. It had the smaller outlets but I used a piece of hose to get the diameter up and reused the stock 40 type hoses shortened as mentioned.
Mart.

Mart, I was thinking the same thing but thought I would ask here first. I will post here when I find the solution.

Hi Dak Rat, I did exactly what Mart said on my 41 1/.2 ton. It works perfectly and you don't need the tin trays under the hose for support anymore as you have shortened them.
