V8 Foundation Museum will accept my 60HP project
Any Doubting Thomases can relax. I have in my hot little hands an email from Josh Conrad, head honcho of the Early V8 Ford Foundation museum, confirming that the museum will in fact accept the 1939 60HP engine for display.
I am checking with a couple of places regarding a display stand for the engine. Building a decent display stand is beyond my design and welding capabilities. The engine is basically complete except for final assembly. Carburetor and fuel pump, which were donations, are all prettied up for display and are on their way to me from Charlie NY as we speak. (Along with the same accoutrements for Apatchy, my ailing 35 pickup.) It sounds like the cost of the display stand is probably going be outside my budget. At this point I am already well over budget. I have not, however, gotten a quote on the cost of the stand. I am certainly going to approach the fabricator of the stand about donating the finished product to the museum. Hopefully they can write it off or get a tax break. I may, sadly and with hat in hand, be asking you guys for a little monetary help on the stand. So far, you folks have been fantastic in donating several expensive items to the project, the most valuable being a complete set of Champion H10 "coke bottle" spark plugs from a gentleman who shall remain anonymous, as will all donors, until they tell me it is okay for me to disclose their name. H10 "Coke Bottle" plugs are, without question, the rarest of all vintage spark plugs. Oh, we just got word that our 4th Great Grand is "in the oven". God is Good.

I hope they display it with your name on it. Your legacy...

If I can ever get in touch with Michael to answer a couple of questions about his products I need, and availability, maybe I can get this thing finished. I need a couple of items that I cannot locate on his web page but I am certain he would have them. I need clarification on other items as well. I hate to order a pig in a poke.

Re: V8 Foundation Museum will accept my 60HP project
Lawson, We were just there last Monday. They have a little bit of V8 60 stuff but I'm sure they'll be glad to have your engine. The shell is up for the second building and I would think that'll be done this year. They did not have one 42 Ford car nor was one on display at the Henry Ford that I saw. wife asked if we should donate our 42 Deluxe Coupe. I told her it was a long way from being nice enough. I hope you get to see the place. After we visited the museum I went to see one of my USAF firefighter buddies I had not seen since 1978. Was a great day!

Sal: I never thought to ask. I'll try to remember to bounce that idea off their noggin. Lawson

Beat me to it. Maybe on a nice bias-ply piecrust sitting atop a sturdy art-deco style coffee table. |

Still waiting to see a photo or 2 of the stand seeing as how I have a vested interest in it.

Re: V8 Foundation Museum will accept my 60HP project
I just got it yesterday (1/11/23) and am trying to clean up one of my shop roll up doors enough to use it as a backdrop for a picture. 27 years of accumulated dust on the door don't look real pretty. Neither does a bunch of shop clutter. Patience with the old man, please. LOL
