59AB Rear Main Bearing Cap Question
The rear main bearing cap in my 59AB has an angle drilled hole in which a small piece of what looks like pipe was set in (loose enough that I pulled it out with my fingers). What does it do? Why is it there? Is it necessary?
OK, I'll come clean...I checked to see how tight it was when I was redoing my engine...when I found it was loose, I pulled it out and placed it on my bench so that I could Loctite it into place "later"...long story short, the oil pan is back on and as I surveyed the bench...there is that small piece of pipe (Doh!). Do I need to remove the pan to install...or is it a new 'spare part"? Thanks again, Tim |

Re: 59AB Rear Main Bearing Cap Question
Does the engine have a rope seal for the rear main or is it a service block set up for early slinger type rear seal
A lot of the slinger type had a drain pipe on the rear cap |
