Default Are Reproduction Shocks Adjustable? UPDATE

This is a follow-up to the earlier thread on repro shocks. These shocks have the usual adjusting bolt head on the needle, but unlike the originals, the needle can be turned many times. Which leads me to wonder whether these repros are indeed adjustable. Any thoughts out there?

Thanks much!
Dave

Installed and tested. Results in post #7.

Mr. Stipe's new shocks are very much adjustable ... not sure which earlier thread you are concerned about.

Bratton's and Snyder's shocks are adjustable also. I have Stipe's on my Town Sedan and couldn't be happier with them. I just added a Panhard Bar to the rear also and that made the ride even more enjoyable.

I don't know if any of the 'older' repros are adjustable. Maybe a link to the earlier thread would help?

My shocks ( 3 sets ) from Mr. Stipe are adjustable. A previous set I purchased from a Hershey vendor are not. You get what you pay for. Wayne

Silly me - I knew what I meant!!

Here's a link to the previous thread:

These are early reproduction shocks - certainly not made by Mr. Stipe! No fluid in the outer chambers.

Thanks!
Dave

The early ones were not adjustable.

Thanks, John. I don't know how 'early' these are, of course. No manufacturer indicated, either.

Is there any information available about these early repro shocks? I have checked the indexes for both The Model A News and The Restorer and am not finding anything that refers to 'early reproduction shocks'. How about the Model A Times?

If not adjustable, should the 'adjuster' be screwed all the way in? All the way out? Or it doesn't matter? All opinions welcome!!

Thanks
Dave

I finished installing the repro shocks and road tested the car on a variety of roads. I don't feel any difference in the ride......
