Default Re: The Official '32-'34 Truck Thread

Hello. We've inherited my Father-in-law's truck, which is in the middle of it's second revival, and I have a few questions.

1. I've been told that this is a Model B truck and that makes it special. Everything I've found indicates you either got a Model BB 1 1/2 ton, or you got the Model B. Seems I see as many B's as anything else. Do I have this right, or am I missing something.

2. Truck has the spare tire on the passenger fender, yet most other trucks I see don't. Was this an option? What gives?

3. What gastank would you recommend I use? Seems the tanks advertised for 32's wouldn't fit under the bed.

First picture is probably from 1977, after he brought the truck back from the dead. That's my mother-in-law, my wife and her two younger sisters. We're all a bit older now.

Next picture is what the truck looks like today. I have lots of work to do, but most of the truck is there.

Thanks.

Here's my 34 I've had now for 8 yrs. Originally from California. An old rod found in pieces that still had the pitted chrome axle and driveshaft along with an old chromed gad pedal linkage. Running two of the three Stromberg's. Uncut top and bobbed bed. Painted it this past winter.

My '33 was originally a "B" with a 4 cylinder then it was converted to a V8 by previous owners.

Perhaps it's time for an update since this thread has been unearthed. Back in May 2010 I posted pictures (post #19) of my two pickups. Since then Asa, the black-primered one in my original post, has been totally redone by Limeworks Speedshop. Here's Asa now. I have owned it more than 45 years. It has had 2 Chevy engines and a Ford 302 but now it has a 276" flathead.

Here it is with painted stock bed floor and with the removeable Bruce Horkey "show deck" of maple boards I installed. The Macs Tie-down strips are useful additions also.

Nice truck JM35... I like the big ones, I am looking to get my 1934 1/12 tonner a little faster on open roads..
Might look into "Straightpipes" 's suggestion for an inline Michell overdrive.
Anybody know more about 34-39 axle ratio's ? Would be nice to just change the complete axle for a faster one...

Great photos of some really nice TRUCKS.... I have had my since '69 and had '51 Merc and juice brakes when I drove it in high school. Restored it over many, many years and love to drive it when Michigan weather is nice.

Question I have a 32 pickup pretty original daily driver, I would like to add a rear bumper.

Any suggestions for rear bumper mounting brackets?

Ok, more pics, here's a pic from an outing last Sunday - it was a beautiful morning for a drive and both pickups performed well, which is good because the restored one has had oil pump problems (original 34 motor that was rebuilt, original 34 oil pump) and this was the first run after fitting a replacement gear to the pump. Both pickups belong to a good friend.
