Air fuel meter
I am looking to buy a air fuel ratio meter to tune my 8BA. It runs good, checked plugs not burning very clean they are black. Looking for recommendations for a good one and ones to stay away from.
Thanks in advance |

Re: Air fuel meter
I have several, I'll have to check the names of them. However, they are pretty old and there may be some betterr ones out there. Mine are 7.8 years old.

Re: Air fuel meter
Have had an 'INNOVATE' brand AFR in use for over 7 years, no issues.
Check EBAY. SUMMIT RACING etc. for availability.

Re: Air fuel meter
I have an Innovate sensor in one car and Spartan 2 from 14point7 in another. Both seem to work well and are really helpful for tuning. Ken

Re: Air fuel meter
I have an "Innovate" on my engine test stand. Since I only have headers with short extensions, I have a "sniffer tube" that clamps to to the end of the exhaust extension. In my application it seems to work OK, since the distance from the engine is reasonable. While a "sniffer tube" can be utilized with some effectiveness in the tailpipe of an assembled car, it is not an ideal installation.
I intend to install regular bungs in the different header extensions one of these days, but since the current setup seems to work, I've been putting it off. The "Innovate" sensor seems to be a quality unit. |

Re: Air fuel meter
However, you'll never have any AF information under load, Which is very important.
