Anyone seen two piece original frame webbing?
Hello Gang; I am curious if anyone has ever found original two piece frame webbing when they disassembled a car? This was one thing I dont recall inspecting closely when I took mine apart ( put it in a safe location and now cannot find it,typical Kev). I see the Ford parts book lists two different webbings, one for the front fender and one for the Running boards
( A-16540 and A-16541)...but others I have talked to think that Ford always used a one -piece webbing. I need to find out if the split would be right at the front cowl body mounting bolt, or an inch in front or behind it? It seems to me it would then be visible from beneath the car, Thanks in advance for your kind help! Kev Kevs latest RB pic ( a bit cloudy ) http://s946.photobucket.com/albums/a...nt=CloudsC.jpg |

I've seen it several times in disassembly. Also, Marco has it documented in his photos.

Re: Anyone seen two piece original frame webbing?
Yes, two piece fram webbing exists. I have a set of NOS early '28 front frame webbing. they are cut to size with holes stamped. The webbing is much thinner than what the parts houses currently sell.

Re: Anyone seen two piece original frame webbing?
Thanks Charles, just trying to figure out what the 2 piece looks like? I have pieces
off my car, but I don't think it's 2 piece. |

Re: Anyone seen two piece original frame webbing?
Your webbing should only go to about the rear of the cowl since that is where the running board shield leaves the top of the frame. Later models have the shield on the frame all the way to the rear fenders.

Re: Anyone seen two piece original frame webbing?
yep, under bolts #1 (cowl) and #2&3 (base of door post). rest of body blocks only had pads (fabric impregnated with rubber) against top of frame.

Re: Anyone seen two piece original frame webbing?
Charles my original was very similar to yours, i know its much skinnier than the current repo stuff, my parts list shows A-16540-B coming along in 1930, so there was a re-design , whereas the rear piece A-16541 stays the same all years; unfortunately the parts list does not say the length of each piece so I am having trouble figuring out where the split should be. Thanks Kev

Re: Anyone seen two piece original frame webbing?
Lets see if I can attach a pic, this one seems to be showing something at areas A and B that could be my webbing, I am thinking the A circle is showing a tattered bit whereas the B is showing something less damaged ; if mine was two part I was thinking the split would have been somewhere in between , perhaps I am wrong. Its a fuzzy pic and my memory of years ago is even fuzzier! Thanks,Kev
