Re: SAMPSON JR 6 Volt AHOOGA HORN
A picture would be nice... Is it similar to an A horn?

Agreed - a picture would be helpful... especially for the curious among us... oh, wait that would be most of us...

I bought an after market gizmo to keep a Model T oil level up and wondered where someone found a warehouse full of these until I received it and saw its apparent flaw - the oil reservoir was to be clamped to the Exhaust manifold! Sampson horn, does it still have long hair? |

Re: SAMPSON JR 6 Volt AHOOGA HORN
I googled it and the only reference I could find was in a book called "Horseless age: the automotive trade magazine Volume 32" The following paragraph was in the Accessories and Parts section on page 639 dated Oct. 15, 1932.
AMERICAN ELECTRIC CO CHICAGO ILL Sanrson motor horn an electric motor horn operating on 6 volt current Samson Jr also motor driven and vibrator horns American sonoscope an instrument for locating trouble in motors and other machinery consisting of a receiver containing a sensitive diaphragm to which is attached a jointed steel rod That would make it an after market of accessory type horn from the model T era. I don't believe model T's came from the factory equipped with a horn did they? It is spelled different, but the American Electric Co. is the same so I would assume the mis-spelling of Sampson is a typo, but who knows. "The Horseless Age" looks like it woulb a very interesting book. |

Re: SAMPSON JR 6 Volt AHOOGA HORN
JBR - Model T's did have a factory vibrator type horn. The early non starter (crank) T's had a 24 volt magneto system with a 24 volt horn. About 1925 or near that time Ford chnged to 6 volt and added a starter and a 6 volt vibrator horn - one of which I have on my 30 coupe as an accessory horn, besides a bull horn and a spark plug whistle. This website shows (and sounds) a 6 volt T vibrator horn among other horns. The 24 volt T horns had a much smaller diameter vibrator section than the 6 volt type.

Re: SAMPSON JR 6 Volt AHOOGA HORN
I stand corrected. Model T's were a little before my time.
