If it's the truck in your avitar, it's a narrow bed. Wide beds were only available in late '31

Looks to be a narrow bed. Wide beds didn't come out until late '31 I believe. The cabs on them had a solid metal roof. Yours has a fabric roof.

Ok, thought so, at least my build partner did, lol.......... Im making sills for it and thought the angle of the wood to the frame looked wrong. Also my truck came woth a LARGE 4x4 cross member at the cab end.

To correct misinformation, widebeds began in early summer 31, solid tops not until August. My PU is a soft top widebed (built June/July 31). You can easily tell if the bed is wide or narrow by looking at the floor. Narrow beds were exposed wood, wide had a stamped metal floor covering the wood. The fender strips in the picture of your bed also define it as a narrow bed. Wider beds had a single fender.

It's a narrow bed that you have . Don't worry Lots of people have their own ideas when it comes to restoration
.My truck had loads of wood under the bed when I got it .But it's not right!!!

All you should have are the 2 long pieces that you pictured in another post and a little block for each taillight bracket, That's it

Look's like Old Yaller is about ready for the road Enjoy !!!

But, of course, Mr Ford's practice of using up existing parts in the pipeline produced a number of varried combinations. My PU has a solid top and a narrow bed. Add into the equasion the flat firewall vs the indented firewall and the mix is even greater. (mine has an indented firewall)

Narrow beds typically were assembled unpainted and the wood and EVERYTHING painted all at the same time. Bed metal, wood, center pan and strips, bolting.

Today's restorers typically paint the metal parts and then sand and varnish the wood planking for appearance. But this NOT as originally appeared.

These drawings are from the Sills I bought for my Pickup. Maybe these will aid in the making of yours if you haven't made yours yet. Afordman31

Sorry for all the confusion on my part, and thank you for all the help. This is the little bastard that had me stumped. I saved this cross member timber during tear down knowing darn well it was odd. Between your information and looking at pics I think I've got it figured out. I'm missing the hold down tabs pictured below in my pic. Its incredible what lengths people go through utilizing incorrect materials and applications to dance around lack of skill and or tools. Ill make my own brackets today. The schematics posted will help tremendously, thank you. And the solid conformation that all I need are the two sill plates is really appreciated also. The fact that the sill plates don't fallow or lay directly on top of the full length of the frame was truly a hard fact for me to swallow too lol.

I think some late '31s got a narrow bed after a fruitless search for correct rear fenders for a wide bed restoration.
