McMimmcs: the Murray Horn Vibration Dampener reduces harmonic vibration in the Model A engine. These vibrations usually occur at around 1500 RPMs and the again about 2100 RPMs. I have one installed and it works as advertised.

Here is a white paper that explains all about torsional dampeners: http://harmonicdampers.com/downloads...amper_Info.pdf

The torsional vibrations occur at all rpms but are worse when resonate frequencies match the forcing frequency. The torque on the crankshaft can be many times what is going into the transmission to drive the car. All modern cars that I know of have vibration dampeners.
