Default Red's headers

Years ago. I bought headers from Reds, and are just putting them on now. There are 2 sizes of nuts & bolts. What goes where? Thanks

The four large bolts 7/16 go in the two front holes on both side, rest of the bolts are 3/8.

Just as a point of information: Be sure to cover those bolt threads with anti seize.
You may even find it easier to use socket head cap screws. I also don't use lock washers.

Yes. This seems yet another bad Ford idea. 8^)

No, I understand the reasoning for it...on the early [32-36] engines the exhaust pipes bolted directly in line with the front exhaust outlets in the block, therefore, with the added strain applied to that area it makes sense to use heavier hardware....

Do not make the mistake of substituting longer bolts than those furnished. The holes bottom out, and longer bolts will break through to the water jacket.

That's been my understanding on the logic of this as well. Interchangeability has always been a big consideration of Ford during the Flathead V8 years.

I've seen plenty of folks screw 3/8" NC bolts into the front holes and wonder why they strip out! LOL
