Default 1949 Ford Coupe

What is the difference between a regular coupe and a business coupe? My car is a coupe but it has a back seat. Are business and regular coupes, two different cars? I have seen 49 2 door sedans that have a longer roof line than mine. Thanks

I have a '51 "Cub Coupe", which was a part of the "Custom" model that year. The business coupes were in the "DeLuxe" line. I believe it was the same for '49 and '50. The "Club Coupe" was the upscale model with a rear seat, two interior visors and swing-out rear side windows, and all of the other accoutrements of the "Custom" models. The business coupes had a platform in the back and fixed rear side windows and were pretty bare bones. (All two door sedans had roll down rear windows.) I believe that a rear seat may have been an option for the business coupes, but don't know for sure. After all of these years, many changes could have been made, so I would say that the definitive factor indicating what a car was originally would be the presence or absence of the swing-out rear side windows.

May I suggest the above book, my first car was a ‘50 custom 2 door that my Dad purchased for $5.00 in 1964 from a coworker. I wish I still had it.

To add to the discussion, your cowl number should give you all the particulars of the car. I am assuming the '49s have a cowl number like the 50's. All of these sedans have a longer roof line than the coupes.
There were 28,946 business coupes made in 1949; 4,170 deluxe club coupes and 150,254 custom deluxe club coupes made.
