Default Horn relay

Just wondering will a 12 volt horn relay work in a 6 volt system thanks

There are radio and electronic application relays that will work at reduced voltage. They are NOT rated that way so it is a cut and try thing to find out what works. That can get expensive.
These generally have to be packaged some way to keep moisture and dirt out also.

The trouble is the force that brings the contacts together would only be half. Current creates the magnetism and yours would only be half of what was considered by the designer to be adequate. Another thing is the contacts need to connect with enough force to keep oxidation from affecting the conductivity, it sort of knocks off any accumulation. It might work for a while, sort of... I wouldnt.

standard style relays [4/5 pin] are available in 6 volt but take some finding if your looking for as per original try michel at 3rd gen

The stock 6V horn relay will work on 12V but will have a different sound.
