1939 to 1940 brake conversion

Thanks to all who replied. My '39 has the "WIDE FIVE." My goal is to set the car up with 1940 & later wheels & hubs. The replies I have received will be very helpful for me to do the conversion with not too much trouble.

You are going to need a set of 40-48 brake drums. They should be bolt on and go.

Made the same error I did! The wide-5 bolt pattern is in the hub (39s are still the wide-5 pattern), it will take a hub and drum replacement.

Since the hubs are not generally removed from the drum under normal circumstances I was considering it as a unit, but you are correct, he will need the hubs also.

If it's within your budget try MT Products for drums and hubs. Use your old bearings as the new repro bearings are of dubious quality.
