I was wondering the same question. Does anyone have any experience with doing this?

I'm not familiar with the '36 set-up, but I suspect the clutch pedal rotates the shaft to operate the clutch arm on the inside of the x member. The shaft rotates on bushings within the bracket bolted to the frame. The shaft in a '40 bracket is stationary in the bracket and both pedals rotate on the shaft. It might could be done with machine work, most things can. Most people just use a '39 assembly to convert to hydraulic brakes.

I think I should explain the setup a little better. The 36 clutch pedal does rotate a shaft to operate the clutch arm just as you said. I think the 39 setup does the same. If you use the 39 clutch pedal it will hit the frame about one inch from being fully depressed. The 36 clutch pedal will not as it is bent to avoid hitting the frame. The question is If you use the 39 pedal assembly to convert to hydraulic brakes do you use the 36 clutch pedal, shaft and clutch arm in the 39 assembly?

NO. Won't fit or work. Two different designs.

If you truly have a '39 peddle assembly it should fit in a '36 with no difficulty, mine did. As I recall it requires a slight modification to a couple of bolt holes through the frame and use of the '36 clutch release arm..

The car was converted long ago to hydraulic brakes with a 39 pedal set. It works well since I rebuilt all the hydraulics and replaced the clutch linkage with the correct 39 linkage. The only issue is that the clutch pedal hits the frame about 3/4" from bottoming out because the 39 pedal is not bent the same as the 36. My thought was to replace the clutch pedal with the 36 pedal but I found that the holes for the rotating shaft are off by 90 degrees. I could engineer it to work a few different ways but before I start down that road I was wondering if the stock 36 clutch pedal and shaft would work. At first look they do look interchangeable but until I pull both assemblies apart I won't know for sure. Maybe others have had the same issues?

Use your oyx-acct torch to heat & bend to fit.
Been done that way since the beginning of time.
