Yup, Same here. Switched from Haggerty a few years ago. Adam at the Corvette museum is a great guy and easy to work with.

I use Hagerty. In 2011 when I 1st got the A and insured it I also looked a t Grundy. The paperwork was a lot simpler than Grundy. This is why I chose Hagerty. At the time I had a Bonded Title, might have had something to do with it.

I have had Hagerty for a number of years, and their restrictions are basically it should be used for shows, meets, club events and occasional personal driving. Never knew anyone being denied. Those that are used to regular insurance don't realize how inexpensive collector insurance can be. You place the value on your vehicle. It is an agreed value and the premium reflects that.

I believe I am paying about $175 per year for my $15k roadster.
That is for full coverage, maybe $100 deductible.
The second and third cars are drastically cheaper. I have two others valued at about $12k and $15k, and they cost about $50 to $60 each.

I have Grundy. No restrictions on use, just cant use it as a daily driver. Car must be mostly original (no hot rods) and kept in a garage. After reading the policy I talked to an agent in person to clarify. I have an agreed value of 30k and pay $175 per year. Problem with not using a classic car policy is agreed value. Hagerty was very similar.

We are also using Taylor, have for almost 40 years. No problems.

Premium under $200.00. Agreed value $17,500.00. Enjoy.

I've done plenty of hot rods with Grundy. I currently own 2 insured with them. An MGB with a 3.5 Rover aluminum V8 and Camaro T5, and a 914 Porsche with a small block Chevy. I do have to keep them in a locked garage, but there is no limit (or report needed) on mileage.

I drove the MGB on a 2,000 mile trip last summer. I called Grundy to let them know that the car would not be in a locked garage every night on that trip. The told me "No problem. Thanks for letting us know".

I am using Hagerty now. I have used JC Taylor, and Condon and Skelly, and now Hagerty. Some companies have a problem with the fact that I have 2 drivers, (myself, and my wife). and only one normal everyday driver car with regular insurance. One company, I don't remember which one, also wouldn't let me use my regular driver for our personal car because it was (at the time) over 20 years old.

I stand corrected, I thought for sure when I applied for my policy they stated that the car had to be mostly stock / stock appearing. Maybe they have different categories. I too asked about usage before I signed up and was happy with what I heard. To paraphrase they told me that they encourage people to get their old cars out and drive them. The mg and Porsche must run like crazy with that kind of power!

The hot rods are tons of fun , but I get more smiles, more thumbs up, more questions and stories driving the A. EVERYONE can relate to it in one way or another.

Love the patina, surprised there is not more visible body rust. Looks like a great every day driver! Perhaps something you would see back in the day.

Dick, that is a beautiful car. Everytime I think I would like to have one showroom new, I see something like this and think how great it would be to have one just like it.

We had Grundy for a muscle car I've owned for 10yrs, no claims, a year ago the wife wanted her own muscle car (how cool is that!) so we called Grundy to add a second car, they quoted thru their website, we mailed a check, after serval weeks they returned the check and gave us some BS about adding her car, we are both in our fifties with perfect driving records so we switched over to hagerty. Then when I added my 36 ford, the guy was like; are you ready for this, I figured the quote would be higher, My premiums for 3 collector cars was LESS than 2, I was shocked , love me some hagerty!

FWIW our daily drivers and home are with Allstate.

YMMV

Thanks, guys. It was just what I wanted too. Restorations are a slippery slope. Unrestored, original cars seem to get the most attention from the general public. Maybe not so at an all Model A event.

I'm the 3rd owner. Zero rust. I've been through all the mechanical systems but have left the exterior and interior original. Both are nicely tattered.

I'd stay away from JC Taylor. I learned the hard way that "uninsured/underinsured" does not apply to property losses. They were great at taking my premiums for over 20 years, but MIA when I suffered a loss. I now use Hagerty and have been very pleased with them. A lady ran into the back of me last Spring. Hagerty was there throughout the claims process- absolutely no problems at any point.
