Default steel headers

A friend is looking for a set of steel Headers for his 35 pickup with one of my 59ab engines. He has talked to Jim at Red's Headers and he told him he don't know when or if he is going to have them anymore. I'm sure there is other places that have headers. He would like to get the extentions from the headers to the mufflers, but if they don't have them he can get them made in his home town. SO, where do we go for headers? Thanks Walt

I've been waiting since last April for a set of headers for my V8-60 from Red's, same response. I bought a set for my 35 with a 59 AB from MAC"S a few years ago, but they have nothing for the 60 motor.

Wow! I thought that was the cornerstone of his business. I have to wonder what's going on with that?

I got a set from Red's 2-3 month ago with the exten pipes for a 50 Merc in a 37 coupe. He must of had them right in stock because he et them right out. In Speedway they say 37-48. What's the difference between 35 and 37 for headers? Walt

Red's headers are really nice. I ordered a set for my 1937 pickup with a 1940 flathead. I took from August to March to get them, Jim said that personnel problems were affecting the production. Bob Drake sells steel headers, don't know about the fit or quality. I don't see a difference between 35 and 37 except the steering box redesign, which shouldn't affect much.

I've bought and installed Reds(52 Merc in 32 frame) and Bob Drake(8BA in 47 coupe) and both were a good fit/quality.

I know Dave at ( house of fab ) over on the M.A.M.B. Is making high quality custom header sets...A little pricy but extremely well made one off headers for the Flathead V/8.... unbeatable workmanship. IMO

Walt, if they do not have to be steel, I put a set of fentons on my 36. I machined .100 of of the face of the left side where it mounts to the engine and placed a another .125 thick washer under the front motor mount. They cleared the steering box and never gave me trouble. The flange thicknes of the fentons is about 1/2 inch so that .100 taken off meant nothing.
