What type of fluid is used in a 54 Monterey?? DOT3???

If you do not have the system COMPLETELY apart don't get fancy with changing stuff. Just asking for trouble.

I have a ElCamino, and I had everything apart making some changes, including the lines. I changed that over to DOT-4. I have a neighbor that is a serious collector car guy. He tried the silicone stuff in one of his cars, and took it out. Said he did not like the feel of the pedal.
