Early master cylinder ID
Anyone recognize this master cylinder? Looking to replace it as its obviously leaking. Its a 2-bolt so a little different from the genaric juice-brake masters. I just need something that will fit
Thanks. Last edited by Pandersen33; 03-05-2022 at 12:06 AM. |

Your M/C 'LOOKS' like the one BELOW. But rather than "just needing something that will fit", you should be more-aware of the diameter of the bore, with an inclination toward matching the bores. Using a M/C with as little as 1/16" DIFFERENCE in diameter of the bore can considerably alter the feel, as well as the amount of force required to push on the brake pedal to match the performance of the M/C that you now have. Below is the M/C that I found that appears like yours. Click the link BELOW for information on that particular M/C. DD https://www.ebay.com/itm/38475385959...epid=236499040 . Re: Early master cylinder ID
I think it is plumbed as a dual. Note thin pipe coming from banjo on forward fitting.

Re: Early master cylinder ID
Fire wall should also have some reinforcing on the inside or my guess is that will eventually crack as they are not thick enough on its own

Re: Early master cylinder ID
51 MERC-T , I think you are correct. Looks identical to the 67 Camero master cylinder my brother used on his 1957 Nomad.

Re: Early master cylinder ID
.
That AC Delco "18M1988" part number crosses to a RAYBESTOS "36233", available in the link BELOW. The link below shows a substantial SAVINGS (about a $33 SAVINGS) for the same M/C. https://www.partsgeek.com/bpb4ldd-ch...10070301008005 This particular M/C has a 25.4mm DIAMETER Bore (1"). DD . |
