If I am interpreting this piece correctly, it is the piece coming out of the rear backing plate that the brake arm fastens to? If that is the piece, then the original ones that I have are flat. They may show a machining mark in the center. They go on cad plated, with black arms for the service brake and both cad plated shaft and arm on the emergency brake. (for a 31)

Good question !
I've been dealing with this same question since Wednesday. ALL the rear
backing plates that I've been dealing with are 1928's and ALL the ends of
the shafts are flat with a small champher..haven't found a domed one yet..
The nice cam shafts I have are domed..now what ?
