Who's had their A the longest
This may have been posted before but it would be nice to see how long we hold on to something we love. I bought my 30 A in the summer of 1965. I've had other A's and sold all but the 30 because of being my first car and the history that it has.
Who still have their first A and how long? |

Re: Who's had their A the longest
I was born in 1939 and rode home from the hospital in Dad's 1930 Coupe which I still own and drive. Do that count as 74 years of ownership??

Re: Who's had their A the longest
My grandparents owned their '31 coupe from November 1957 until my grandpa's passing in October 2011. My brother owns it now. They put 140,000 miles on it during that time & it's still the best riding/driving Model A i've ever been in.

Re: Who's had their A the longest
I got my first model A in the spring of 1960. I've still got it. Here is a pic of the car and me taken in 62, I turned 16 november of that year. I was only 13 when I first got it.

Re: Who's had their A the longest
I bought my roadster when I was in High School 1963....still driving it and loving it.
Bought it for $175 .....They had taken the engine out so I only paid them $100 for it...they never gave me the engine that they promised they would so I never gave them the other $75....sure would have loved having the engine...it was a low ,mileage car...(made the restoration much easier) Joel Chester, Ca |

Re: Who's had their A the longest
My 1930 Standard Coupe cost $30 when I acquired it on February 22, 1941. I drive it regularly, and in fact I drove it to the New England Model A Ford Meet last week. I know its history since new, but it was not in my family prior to my acquiring it so my ownership has no family ties.

Re: Who's had their A the longest
Purdy's got me beat by a few months, got mine in Fall of 1960 as a high school senior, but barnstuf's got us both beat by miles and miles!
Here we are with my sister and brother. Don't recall what the occasion was. The picture in my avatar is a couple years later, after I had swapped out the wheels to originals. I was oiling her up for another run back to college--always an adventure. College was selected largely on basis of which school would let freshmen have cars AND which my car could make it to. Steve |

Re: Who's had their A the longest
A good friend of mine and a member of the Wichita A's got his 28 roadster in 1954. A few years ago we had a member that bought a 28 roadster new. He and his wife have since passed so his son doesn't count.

Re: Who's had their A the longest
No you're not. I've had my March 29 CC pickup since April 1977. It was my graduation present from college.
Doesn't every new graduate get a car as a sendoff into the cold cruel world? I just didn't want a new car. Joe K
