'40 Door panel question
I am going through my '40 coupe parts and came across the two small metal pieces pictured below in my "door" parts box from many years ago. Then I found the same parts stapled to the original drivers side panel, so the loose parts came from the passenger side panel that was in bad shape and pitched years ago. My question is what do they do, and are they needed on the new panels?

Re: '40 Door panel question
Kube, look closely at the panel picture and you'll see these pieces are located near the top on each side of the panel. I understand the arm rest parts as the drivers arm rest is intact, along with having a new pair from Drake.

Thanks for the proverbial slap to my forehead. I need that now and then. Okay, now that I have been slapped back to reality the answer is: Nope, those are not stock. At least not in my experience. I've restored eight or so (I can't recall) 39 /40 coupes and have never seen anything like that.

Re: '40 Door panel question
I thought 40 coupes only had arm rest on the driver door. So, if those were on the passenger door, they were home made. Am I wrong on this?

No apology necessary Kube. My coupe was a mixed bag, with a standard hood/grille but deluxe door panels and garnish. These thin metal pieces look like some kind of stiffener and sure match the age and condition of the panel. Based on your expertise, I'll forget trying to add them to the new panels. |

The deluxe coupes had the driver's side-only arm rest, like mine does, while the standard coupes had none, per the EV8CoA 1940 book. But I'm going to add a Drake repo one to the passenger door. |

Re: '40 Door panel question
I put several LB kits in '40s and those brackets definitely do not belong on any part of the interior.
