Re: Making progress - My '30 Coupe
Tom, we've saved as much hardware as was salvageable. A great deal of it though, was rusted beyond repair.
Skip, you're right about the seat-belts, they aren't set up very safely. We are reupholstering the seat so the belts were an issue we plan to tackle as well. If I can locate a copy of that issue from anyone I will be sure to read it, otherwise I will figure out some better way to attach them. Here's an update on our progress: |

Re: Making progress - My '30 Coupe
The seat belts in my huckster had nothing but wood to bolt to so I ran a angle iron under the frame to bolt through. I know I "will go down with the ship" but I will stay in the car and not go through the windshield.
Hope you did the frame check columbiA mentioned above. If not, could give you some of the problems he mentioned. Just a voice of experience with my coupe-a real pain to get the hooks on the hood. Great job of getting your rig together.

Re: Making progress - My '30 Coupe
Resurrecting an old thread, was gone this summer so had to put the car on hold. Upon returning home, we installed the top wood and top material with the help of our knowledgable and well experienced friend, put on some nice powder coated 19's (to stray away from the 16's it came with,) and a brand new set of white walls. Just got it registered and insured, and took it for our first real drive! Everything seems to be working well, it's been sleeping for who knows how long, so it needs some time to wake up and stretch. Here's a picture of part of the drive:

It looks great Sean! I hope you're planning to drive it to the National in Puyallup next summer. I'll be there with mine. Bring some music too!

Wow it looks great!
We bought our 29 sedan in March and its still coming apart. I wish it were closer to drive-able. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. |

Re: Making progress - My '30 Coupe
Yeah I know what you mean about wanting to drive it. We decided to hold off on upholstery for a while, and drive it like it is for the time being. I've even been driving around without the windows in it! I'm in California so windows aren't as big of an issue as for some of you out there in the cold parts... I'm happy as long as all the essentials work!

Re: Making progress - My '30 Coupe
It stops good with my current original drums, but soon I'll be switching to cast drums.
As for frame sag, everything lines up fine. Time for a bunch of small around-town trips to get used to driving it. Plenty of people who can't seem to go under 45 around my house so they'll just have to keep going around me while I smile and drive my own pace |
