Default Engine overhaul issues...

Some of you may remember my thread from a few weeks ago on my $3,800 engine "overhaul". For what it's worth, I called the builder about 6:30 this evening to tell him about the issue. Not only did he take my call after hours, at 9:30PM, he pulled into my driveway, voluntarily loaded the car into his trailer and took it away to repair it. Pretty good service if you ask me, as he seems intent on making it right...mistakes can happen, and I didn't ask for or pay for all new parts, maybe that was my mistake. Given what I initially paid, I'm sure I owe him some more, especially considering that he is hauling it 3 hours one-way to his shop, and back.

I'll post back once we know the cause. I started it for him to hear...its a bad clattering sound, not the "tap-tap-tap" of a lost bearing or something.

He just happened to be in the area (over an hour away though) and offered to stop by. Very relieved to not have to pull an engine a 3rd time in 2 years. All I want is an engine that will last 40k to 50k miles, minimum, with typical maintenance.

If you used the old pistons, maybe one broke. It will be interesting to know what happened.
