Thanks - itis a cool find. I am torn on the car: On one hand I agree it should be preserved as-is. On the other hand I want to drive and enjoy. Either way comes with some regret. My end goal is an original 32, and I may sell/trade this car to someone who has the means to preserve. The key word is MAY - i don't plan on advertising at this point - I'm in no hurry.

If the tires on the ground are also 'Ford' script, when you replace them, DO NOT throw them away! Offer them for sale on Ford Barn. A lot of guys would like to have one for display.

The four tires are an off-brand from India - the Ford tires are long gone .

agshelby: I see on HAMB you said you might consider selling it sometime in the future because your first love is an original 32. I have a theory. You might want to consider keeping your 40 just as you found it because it is such a unique find and a special car with special history. In a few years I think original 40 Fords will be more valuable than 32's because there are just so many 32's out there. I know original 32's are at the top of the pyramid, but 40's aren't far behind. Especially one's like you have and can preserve "as is". Don't restore it as it will loose it's orginality. I could be wrong, but that's ok.
Make sure you get all the provenance and info. from the seller while you still have that opportunity.

Right now I'm just cleaning the car. Eventually I'd like to trade it for a 32 - 34 coupe or cabriolet - but until them I'll just enjoy the '40. I have no intention of painting or modifying in any way.

I'm a Hot Rodder primarily, but over the years have come to realise that I'm also very conservative in my views....cars such as yours are special insomuch as they are genuine survivorsn, not bitsas made to look old, but the real deal.

I bet the smell of that car is something else when you go in the garage and get in it..the newspaper and tools etc just add to the whole deal.There are hundreds of Forty coupes out there if someone wanted a modified one...I think that in coming years cars such as this will be very valuable as it sits.

Great score and thanks for sharing.....Id love to just touch and smell it...I know, I'm sick lol.

Nineteen Forty Ford Coupes certainly look good. I am glad that you are going to preserve this great survivor.
