Default What's the shortest length generator?

Hey gang, I'm having a bit of a dual carburetor issue,
Can anyone tell me the shortest length 6v generator model or are they all the same length? I have nothing to reference. Any help would be appreciated greatly thanks

You may have to go to an alternator. See, one change calls for 8 more.

Possibly an offset generator mount?

I believe the 36 is and can be used on some duel carburetor setups.

What intake are you using?

Wanted to stay away from offset bracket, the intake is a early 36 fabricated intake, and 100% do not want to use a alternator. Just wasn't sure if there were noticeable length differences between generator years, I don't have a pile handy to measure from

No lengths given but I'm guessing they are all to relative spec with parts codes. Might be able to match armatures to case and get an idea what maybe be your best bet.

Best of luck! and if I find anything else I'll drop it here. I'll go measure my 36 in a few days when I'm feeling better and want to trug through the snow.

And we have nothing about the measurements of your "fabricated intake" on which to base a hypothetical answer. ROFLMAO.

I agree with tinker; the early 3 brush generators measure 6 5/8" from back of the mount to back of generator. Later, two brush versions are longer

You got me Lawson. I get the LMAO part but clueless to the ROF. Please clue me in. Still trying to add to the list of these sort of things. So far GB Sisson wins with WML. Still chuckling on that one.

The 68-1000-c the generator with the bulges on the sides is most likely the shortest.
Also if your needs are only a little ---a 1/4 inch or so could be shaved off the shaft and field housing to make it more compact

Awesome, thanks for the reply kurt, Brian and tinker
never thought of shaving off the shaft,
As for everyone else, if you know what a stock 36 intake looks like, we'll that's it!! It's been modified with two risers, and I didn't post the measurement I needed
Because the real question was, is there different lengths of generators? ( still unanswered) I figured with the knowledge here and someone's stock pile of generators under a bench it would be a painless question to ask

My mistake

post 7 has link to ford garage there are pictures of armatures those pictures give lengths and gives reference to the generator they fit.
Another possibility is using double belt pulleys and using front groove and move generator with single groove out with spacer
