Default small block Ford to early Ford transmission adapter

Does anybody make an adapter that allows an early Ford transmission to be bolted up to a 289-302 small block Ford?
Adapters exist for late 50's Fords, Chevys, Cadillacs and even Chrysler Hemis but I can't locate one for a 302 Ford (post 1965-6 bolt). Seems strange.

Check this one out over on the H.A.M.B. The seller also posts here on the Barn.

2ndgeer,
They're not currently being produced so you'll have to hunt for one. I managed to score one for a 6 bolt motor at Moultrie a couple of years ago for $75 but haven't seen another before or since. Surprising that offy or wilcap or one of the other outfits hasn't seen the need (or market) for one.

Several of you guys didn't see where I said post-1965 6-bolt small block Ford. These engines are, of course, the overwhelming majority of SMB Fords, including all the 302's.

I know that a 5-bolt adapter exists (as in the sale item) but it is only useful for the early mid-60s 221, 260 and 289 versions.

It may well be that no one has ever made one for the commonplace SBF?

I mounted a '54 O.D. tranny to my '75 F-150 when the truck was new.
The trucks and the 351 equipped cars use cast-iron bells which have bosses cast into them where the early tranny boltpattern holes would be.
I cut the face off an early tranny and used it as a guide for drilling the holes into the bell. I them tapped the holes. This was a long time ago but as I remember the only other things I had to do was find a front bearing retainer of the correct diameter to fit the the center hole in the bell and have a longer pilot bushing turned out of oillite bronze to reach out to the input shaft. I've since seen these long pilot bushings for sale at different places, including e-pay.
It was pretty straight forward.

2ndgear,I know I'm a little slow, but are you looking for an adapter for a 5 bolt or a 6 bolt bell? You keep mentioning post 6 bolt but for a 302,and since all 302s are 6 bolt I'm confused.

2ndgeer, have you posted in "wanted" at HAMB? I needed the same adapter you're asking for and posted there. I got a reply (and eventual transaction) the next day. Good luck.

I see people say they did not make one. I picked one up on ebay couple months ago (hope it is correct) , it is new old stock and it was made by Trans-Dapt #690291 but I don't think they make them anymore. If you email me to my personal email I can try to find his name and phone number he says there is a company that does make them but not cheep. This guy seemed to know his stuff and he was very nice [email protected] I am not a mechanic so I am doing my best and going by what people tell me

I believe '65 is the year Ford went from 5 to 6 bolt bells and I guess they are not interchangable
