Default Sealed front water pump bearing size

A month or two ago someone posted the O.D. and the I.D of a sealed bearing for the front of a water pump. I can't for the life of me find that thread. I want to re-build my spare water pump and use a sealed front bearing. I am hoping that it will last longer and stop the end play. The one I have I believe had the front bearing get worn or loosen causing the shaft to move around intern causing the seal and the rear bushing to fail causing a leak out of the grease fitting. It is the screw type cup fitting you turn a little to force grease into the bushing. Am I out of whack on my theory? I have two pumps and am running my other one but want to fix this one to put back under the seat for the spare.

Thanks for your advice

Marc

I run a 5/8" X 1 3/8" X 11mm (7/16") sealed bearing at the front of the shaft.
Because we have been metric for about 50 years, imperial sized bearings are not so easy to get but you shoiuldn't have any trouble. FWIW, 16 mm is only 0.0012" larger than 5/8". With a slight knurl of the shaft, you'd be OK there.
1 3/8" is only 0.003 under 35 mm. With a little bearing retainer, that should be good too. The bearing I am using is by KSM (Japan) number 1623-2RS.
