Hi Folks

I’m getting ready to replace the front rubber mat. Under old mat the current insulation looks like (best I can describe) horse hair. What’s the best way to remove it? It may be glued down. I would like to install better insulation,

Or do I just go over the top of this old insulation?

Also any trick / shortcuts installing new mat?
