Re: What age group???
I'm 43 years old and a petrolhead since i was born. Tinkered with my father as a little boy on his old Volvos and i played only with model-cars.
Now the cars are no longer model-cars. Greetings from Switzerland Barney |

67. I've had my first A for 51 years.
Great topic. I'm surprised at how many have responded to this thread who I've seldom seen here!

Re: What age group???
55 years old. My first experience with a Fordor was when I was in high school at 17 yrs old...my print shop, teacher Tom Parker, Hollywood High School and his wife Sue owned it...they were in their early twenties. My mission now is to get kids in the high school where I teach in Yakima, Washington interested in Model As.

Re: What age group???
I'm 41 until August 2013, My 31 150B woodie has been in my family since 1939. I have fond memories of riding in it growing up and learning to drive it at age 11. It developed an engine crack and dad parked it 25 years ago. Dad passed away in 08 so in Feb 2011 I dragged her out of the barn, put an engine in her and have been collecting parts and information ever since. I drove her a few times before I had to seek work out of the country and now can't wait to come home to start on the rest. Feel free to check out my photo albums under my profile.
I really like the FB and everyone here. This is a great venue for learning and sharing. Thank you everyone.

Re: What age group???
OK Guys, I had nothing better to do so I crunched some numbers:
Result is, we Model A'rs on the Barn come in at an average age of 55 years. age brackets are: Under 25 yrs 8% 26 - 35 yrs 8% 36 - 45 yrs 10% 46 - 55 yrs 20% 56 - 60 yrs 9% 61 - 65 yrs 12% 66 - 70 yrs 14% 71 - 75 yrs 10% Over 75 yrs 9% 55% of us are under 60 years and 45% over 60 years and that works out at over 5000 years of experience amongst us.

Re: What age group???
I am 65. Started working on Model A s with my uncle when I was about 13 or 14. He moved out of state and I let making a living get in the way. But I have been back now 10 years or so. Still manage to work on cars with my uncle across the miles when I can. Love the cars.
I am amazed at all the young guys. We don't have many 18 to 40s guys into Model As around here. |

Re: What age group???
I an 70. Not gonna git old, just gonna keep having birthdays. Tillie was my first Model A. Been working on her - restoring and repairing since 1971 - I think that's 41 years. The hood was painted and installed last fall. The bed goes to the blaster today and the fenders are ready for paint. Goal is to have her finished by late spring or early summer.

48 until next August, Model A owner for 8 years.
I think its really cool that we have more than one octogenarian with us as well as a few members still in their teens. So much that can be learned from both groups. |

Re: What age group???
I'm 61 and bought my first Model A a Briggs Fordor this Summer. Last Fall I bought a 30 coupe. I had been racing and restoring Harleys for 40 years until I had a heart attack and quintuple bypass 4 years ago and decided to give up riding bikes. I recently retired and needed a hobby. I'm really enjoy rebuilding and driving these cars.

Re: What age group???
I am 69. I am a retired farmer. I too was was a motorcycle rider and builder all my life. I bought an A 7 years ago and restored it as a driver with mods. We have now put 16,000 miles on it. I love driving the A and we enjoy the companionship of other A and old car people. I also have a T (for sale) and am starting to build a traditional flathead A-v8 roadster (Brookville body) Thankfully I am blessed with good health and hope I can continue.
