Default I have a new appriciation for guys putting cars together!

I have been driving my 34 roadster around with no fenders for the past couple years. I decided I needed to take the next step and over the past several weeks did some repair work and installed my fenders. This is a nice original car and the fenders are also very nice...and it was still a pain installing them and getting them to fit! Especially the fronts. I am leaving the car in primer for now until I can afford to do the body work and paint it. I was being really careful and I still scratched them a little in a few places. It made me think how hard it is to not only get everything to line up, but to put a nice painted car together without damaging the finish!

Warning it's a little hot roddy- I will delete this if guys don't want it on here

Chris,

Your car looked good before. Now, it just simply looks great with the fenders.

Man, it sits right and just looks right.

Great work.

In the second photo, it seems that the front fenders do not fit the fenders, as well as the rear ones do.

Ever see a '34 Phaeton with no fenders ?

Mike, in the second photo the fender was loosly hanging there with no fender brace...that's why it looks droopy. The braces were painted and drying

John

I don't know what you mean by one piece...It's stock bows and irons. The irons have been cut down a little and the center bow leaned forward. It still folds like factory.

You know, I loved that car sans fenders, but now it's so good, it hurts a little. Those fenders have to stay on now.
Well done that man.

Wow '34 Roadsters are so sexy they should be illegal.

I have looked at post #1 about ten times today!

The American flag is great in shot #1.

It seems like your across-the-street neighbors don't like drop-in visits!

Haha, I live in an old 20's house that used to farm all the surounding land. They are slowley developing eveything around it...so it looks kind of desolate now but in a few years I bet it will look more lively

I do not either. I am in the local V8 club here, and love all early Fords...although my heart is in early hot rods. But I know a lot of guys on here are strict restorers and I can appricate that. The last thing I want to do is get kicked off of here or not be welcome. Even being rodded a little, my cars are still all early Ford

Yes, that would have been a good idea had I thought about it. Plus I was doing it myself which was a struggle. The rear fenders are pretty easy. The fronts, hard to tuck them into place by yourself without something rubbing

Here you go. I just had the dash nickled (it was very old, poor chrome when I got the car) and I bought an NOS speedometer. The upholstery is old and not a good color...I will re-do it down the road. Engine is a 59AB with a Merc crank. Trans is a 39 and rear is the stock 34 that has 35-36 3.54 gears I machined for it. It has juice brakes.

Reminds me of my roadster when I first put it together 1959. At that time my top those in irons were nonstock. And my posts had been bent that. Yours looks more stock as it is more stock but they do look a little better lowered. I have a question for you. How do you post your size pictures as I would rather post large pictures than small? Good job thanks

Love the bumpers, you take a great photo Chris, just at that sweet spot of early evening light.
Everything about that car is perfect, the stance, the engine, the dash, the top, the list goes on, saying that, I like your future plans. Looking forward to the next stages of its evolution.

It looks tons better with fenders and the Pontiac lights and 41 bumpers are a great choice …. not much id change.
I’m quite envious actually … I want one in 33 in a bad way

Thank you. My build era is 1955...the tail lights, headlights, bumpers, hubcaps all play into that. 1934 is my favorite year Ford and a roadster is what I have always wanted. 33's aint bad either

Had it out all weekend...went on a 100 mile poker run, went to the local V8 club meeting. Everyone for the most part likes it's new look. Even the younger gals!

Very Cool! Hot Roddy in the right way. Like some one in the '50 would have built Rod.

Assembly of body, fenders, hood etc., can be a bitch, ( the scratch dig thing ) I try to do all myself but find with things like this an extra set or two of hands will eliminate these assy issues.

Damn near perfect, Chris. I love the wide whites on it. For some reason, its a car you can't stop looking at. Some cars are like that....just draws you in....

Last night I went for a stroll in the ol buggy. The weather was perfect and I needed to get out. Still a couple things that are not "right" that I need to address, but I am loving the "new" car!!

I took the top off of it over this past weekend to do a good cleaning after a 200 mile run in rainy weather! This is the first time I have seen it with fenders but no top. I dig it this way too!

Hey Chris,
That is a beautiful car and just love the color. What's the matter with color...you got something against GRAY !
Looks just like my '30 roadster with Grey (only purdier) , the only color that I've ever known on my cars. Same reason as you state now...but forever ! Any want to call it out as 'hotrod', go ahead, no offense not having $, IMO

The grill and front fenders are the most beautiful elements of the 34' ford. They certainly do work better as a team.

HAHA no...but I would like to paint it someday.

I put the top on it and also the side curtains yesterday. It's ready for the chilly fall weather!

What a great looking car - great stance, good colors, a perfect period look IMHO. Continue to keep us all posted (and jealous!) ...
