Following Marco, Patrick and Purdy's suggestions I now have good braking action on all 4 wheels and no overheating. Thanks guys, I am very grateful for your help!

I think previously the brake pedal action was just taking up the slack and not moving the front levers back far enough to actually spread the shoes. I still don't understand why that was causing the front drums to overheat when driving along normally without using the brakes.

I was kinda under the impression that you were trying to adjust them incorrectly. It seemed to me that you had the wedges way too tight. Glad you got working properly.

The guy who designed these has done a pretty good job.

I have one, and if a rat walks in , it DON"T WALK OUT.
