Default Cabriolet window channel

Hey Guys,
I have a 1934 cabriolet. The felt that was in the window channel has been completely warn away. Iíve searched every where I can think of for a kit but I find none for the Ď34 cabriolet.

Has anyone faced this problem before?

You might check with Carpenter and Drake as they once offered a fuzzy tape for wrapping the rubber window seals above the door to recreate the original seals that had the fuzz vulcanized to the rubber. It might not last that long in use, but it would be a lot better than nothing.

Go to billiard table sales company. They will have black felt cheaply
Permatex makes Right Stuff for gluing
You’ll have to improvise from there
Not easy

It's hard to see what style rails you have, on my brtothers model A cab we made a wood form and glued felt in the channel with "right stuff", using the wood made slightly thicker than the window frame--on that system the glass frame runs in the felt

on my 36 conv sedan it is done different, the window has rollers that run brass roller to steel track, krimped into the edge of the track is a felt strip as a anti rattle/wiper function

I went absolutely crazy trying to replace the felt on the window channel on my Briggs bodied 39 conv. I found the correct heavy felt at Restoration Specialitie's, however it was 3/4" wide. I cut it down with a larger pair of sissors, getting two pieces out of one.
Getting the 1/8" felt into the window run channels, two, front & rear of the window class channel, proved to be a very difficult task. I finally figured out that the groove for the felt was most-likely crimped closed after the felt was installed. Since the groove could not be opened up and there was no way to glue the felt in, I had to be very creative..
I finally came up with a "rig" made from two pieces of 1/4" x 1" steel, I placed a piece of felt between the steel pieces and using several clamps I was able to compress the felt down to almost 1/16". Working very quickly, less than 15 seconds, I was able to drop the felt into the groove before it expanded.
I have done two other '39 convertible coupes for guys I know.
I did the windows on my '39 eleven years ago, the felt in the window run channels is still in place with no issues.

Looks to me you spring loaded side felt is still there . These are NOTHING like other 34's . These are to help keep dirt out and lube in the rollers .

Thanks guys. Great suggestions. I’m ready to take the glass and the mechanism. Any thing I should be careful of?
