Question restoring, whats the best brake set-up?

I'm restoring a 29 close cab that needs new drums on the rear. What is the best way to go? I don't have any shoes yet. Just looking for some input. Thanks Pete

All the vendors have drums and shoes for sale, as well as all the other parts you need.

I am a firm believer on cast iron drums for safety in stopping. If you want to be sure you can add the steel bands for increased stopping power. How much stopping power they add I do not know.

Not quite sure what you're asking, there are a number of ways to go.. If you feel like staying mostly as Ford intended then you 2 options.. They came with steel drums and woven lining.. Most folks have converted to cast iron drums with bonded/molded lining which is quite pricey but much less prone to heat fade..
