If you get the correct CD it has something like 13 different manuals on it.

A person really needs the original 1938 thru 41 Ford & Mercury chassis parts book too. It gives the original part numbers for the 99, 09, & 19 Mercury cars with the longer wheel base.

The body is where most of the differences are. The designs have similarities but they are not the same. As far as door hinges. latches, window regulators, and stuff like that, a person just has to ask someone with experience with a specific year and body type. Some of those parts may be similar but I certainly don't know.

Is the CD searchable with a search bar?

The cars are different size so lots of things almost fit not. I'm struggling with 40Merc parts at the moment. I have a air gap in the hinge end of the door on the Fodor convert sedan and can't find a part number or drawing

The "Green Bible" is of chassis parts and will be of little help with body parts... You need a copy of the 1939 and 1940 body parts books.

As to what "will work" is a matter of trial and error and opinion. Most (but not all) 1932-40 inside door and window handles will fit any square shaft 1932-40. Bungee cords will work as a door latch for most anything... but are not confided "couth" by most!

Even within 1939 Mercury body parts there are major differences, Convertibles, Coupes, Sedans and Sedan Coupes ("hardtop") all share some parts and all have unique parts that may simply not work with another body style.

Try asking specific questions here... 1939 Mercury (body style?), and the specific part you are needing.
