Default Chassis primer and paint

I am going to paint my frame with Eastwood's 2k ceramic chassis black paint. I want to get a good base (primer) for the paint. I was thinking of using PPG DP90 epoxy primer first and the chassis paint as a finish coat. The ceramic chassis paint is suppose to be very tough and chip resistant. Has anyone used Eastwood's ceramic paint and used DP90 as a primer? Does anyone think there would be a problem doing it this way?
Thanks for any help.

Most chips happen assembling the chassis not from driving the finished car IMO.

I used the primer that was recommended by Eastwood for the ceramic chassis paint. I'd recommend using the Eastwood primer to ensure compatibility. The standard Chassis Black (satin) sprayed very nice with a HLVP gun and turbine supplied air.

Last year when I used the gloss Chassis Black, I was shocked to find the paint setting up within 15 minutes after mixing. It very nearly cured in the spray gun. At first I thought I mixed it wrong but the second attempt did the same thing even though I followed the instructions to the letter. Eastwood sent me a new quart of paint but I've yet to try it on my frame.

A few years ago I painted some parts with DPLF epoxy primer, followed by Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black. After a year or so, the topcoat actually started peeling off of the primer in a few spots. (And no, I did not wait too long before topcoating the DP primer).

I would avoid this combination, and stick a primer and topcoat that are specifically recommended for each other. I painted a lot of chassis parts with Eastwood chassis black primer and topcoat (from rattle cans), and they have given me no trouble at all.

You can never go wrong with using the primer suggested by the manufacturer of the top coat. Otherwise your results may vary.
