Default fuel pump with primer lever

Has anyone used one of the fuel pumps from the French flatheads that has the primer lever? I was thinking of getting one, but would like to know what others experience with them has been? Are the internals the same as the other 49-53 fuel pumps? Are there any unique fitment problems?
Thanks
Matt

I've taken a look at those as well. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Hi all; The US miliarty vehicles used primer lever pumps, so I would expect the French did also. Newc

I have used the military version of the familiar AC type pump and they're great! Never any messing about with long crank times or pouring any juice down the carb.

The french ones that I have seen for sale are not the same type. I have not tried them, but you can bet if they were made for military use quality would take priority over price.

Having that primer lever is a great asset when you are not using the car every day.

Mart.

A little know fact by most early Ford V8 users is that the Wisconsin V4 engines of the 1950's used the same fuel pump as the Ford V8.. The only difference was the priming lever on the side of the fuel pump. Not sure about the pumps actual brand.
When I was a teenager in the mid 1950's were would pull fuel pumps off of the New Holland balers that had V4 engines for use on our Fords..

Seems I saw quite a few of those pumps with the priming lever back in the day. Did Ford ever put them on at the factory? Walt

That's interesting. Saw a lot of the old V4s here and there when I was a kid. Not so today. I'll bet those from my youth have been re-incarnated into Turdotas and Crapsuns due to the scrapping activity these last few years.

These pumps when used on French flatheads were governed at about 2,200 rpm max.
My concern is , will they produce enough volume for a street driven car ?
Lots of pictures on EBay.

wasn't aware of these dudes. It would be handier than dribbling gasoline down the carb. Will look into this more does anyone build a quality fuel pump with primer for a '46 59AB??

I have some pictures. I bought this and never used it. I think the threads for the fuel line are metric. I'll sell it for $10 plus the ride if you want it.
