Re: Is This Your Car, 75 Years Ago ?
i pull for silver peak Quitchurbitchin! It's got a Ford box. From a collection of negatives I bought from the granddaughter of a Tonopah NV. Studio photog. Silver Peak was a smaller silver camp west and south of Tonopah.

Another from the same collection. Not sure of the location on this one. Southern Nevada no doubt. Tex Grocery, Hoot Owl Cafe, and a Model A!

I don't recognize it, but I'd sure chew out that guy on the right if I was the guy on the left.

Re: Is This Your Car, 75 Years Ago ?
Actually, My Uncle is in the center. My dad and two uncles drove the car in their High school days and my dad (the youngest) got the car as a graduation present. It is mine now. Here are two pics from the early 40's. Notice the headlight covers and gas ration stickers.

Re: Is This Your Car, 75 Years Ago ?
Here's a picture of one of my dads jalopys, think he was about 15 here. He's the one over the engine. The guy on the running boards insisted on taking the picture (as my grandmother told me). Talking to pops friends I was told they would put these together with whatever they could find for free and then race them, and have donut contests in the harvested fields. Notice the wheel on the rear? It was a welded to the rear wheel and ran a belt that powered a corn auger. Ha.

Re: Is This Your Car, 75 Years Ago ?
i eat at curley's Learning a bit more about these negs I bought. The event that caused the parade was the Max Baer - Big Ed Murphy fight in Silver Peak NV. on Labor Day Sept. 4th 1939. so the 75 years mark is about spot on.
