I minimized the spot that I wanted to post your pics and it went to the bottom of the page. I went to your album on your profile. I right click the picture, a box with choices jumps up. I left click copy. I then go to the bottom of the page and left click where I minimized the thread, first pics of 31 speedster. I right click where I want the picture and a box of choices jumps up again. I left click on paste and the picture appears. I type in whatever I want to say and then left click on post quick reply and thats it. If you've got any more pics that you want posted I can do it if you have problems. You can left click on the pictures that I posted for you and they Will get bigger.

I'm not sure, but if you are talking to me, I posted the pictures for 48ford nut off of his album. This is his stuff not mine. I don't have an album on my profile site. The pictures of my cars and parts are on another site.

Its like this, DC works but you would need a transformer on every street corner. AC is what we now use. Tesla invented it, Edison got the credit. It sort of reminds me of the advantage of 12 volt over 6 volt. Insert smiley face.

IIRC Tesla worked for Edison and wanted to pursue working on the AC and Edison wanted no part of AC. He fired Tesla and Westinghouse hired Tesla and this started the war between AC and DC.

Hmm, that's odd. Could be a Firefox setting, blocking pictures posted via HTML? As in blocking external links? Can you take a look with another browser?

I've heard different stories about Tesla and Edison. The last that I heard was that Edison offered Tesla a large sum of money if he could devise what we now call alternating current. When Tesla invented AC, he asked Edison for the money that he had offered him. Edisons reply was didn't he know that he (Edison) was only joking, thats where the problems began.

Westinghouse hired Tesla and put alternating current in to use. Edison did public electricutions of mules and other animals to show the dangers of AC currant and called it Westinghouseing them.

Some good news and some bad. I picked up a complete set of hyd brakes today, and the kingpins almost pushed out by hand. The bad is its misting rain all this week and I can't do any sandblasting.I will be taking the brakes apart and seeing what all I need.Roundback spindles.

All the stars ,and planets have lined up. Today I rec a call from the p/o of my car, and he ask me if I wanted the eng ,and trans. Our deal originally was for me to pull the eng and give it back to him. I had agreed to that. I was building a hot rod. Now 4 yrs later I have the original numbers matching eng, and trans for my speedster.
R/E,backing plates, and drums have a coat of primer.More rain, will have to wait. I have taken the head off the eng ,and there is no rust inside. I have removed all of the bell housing bolts but the eng won't seperate from the trans. Tomorrows problem.

Did you count the bellhousing bolts removed. I forgot one once, but knew enough to not force it. Once I got the last bolt it came apart fine. Hopefully the problem isn't rust on the clutch disc splines.

Tom, that could be the problem. As the eng is setting on a board, I have turned the bell housing ,so all of the bolts are out. Even tried depressing the clutch pedal. I have about 1/4'' of seperation.
Thats tomorrows job

Took all the bolts out of the pressure plate, and started to get seperation. Its off now. Having trouble trying to get the eng un stuck. Have tried all the tricks, liquids, and a bar on the fly wheel.Only time will let it happen. Number 4 is letting liquiid thru.Valves aren't stuck.Broke the main leaf trying to reverse the eyes. broke thru the bolt hole. Little rust near the edge of the break.

When you replace the rear main spring, you do not need to start your bend at the hole, you can start the bend a couple of inches away from it and avoid putting the ram directly over the hole.

Well the eng still isn't turning. I do have fluid in the cyls and 2,3,4 are leaking down over night. I tap each piston every morning, and evening, and put more liquid in.
The O/P that was going to let me use his equipment to blast the frame is out of town, so i had to outsource. Should have it back, and coat of primer this afternoon.
All is going well and still within budget, Need tires for the rear. 7;00 x16 or larger.

You need to buy "Mr. Engine Unstick" for 3 easy payments.

But wait, call in the next 30 minutes and recieve a second one absolutely free. Just pay seperate shipping and handling.

I think my big problem is not having a mounted eng. If I had that I beleive that my socket and a breaker bar would move. Till then, I'll just be patient, and keep up with my procedure.

I would pry off the flywheel, but not too much off the front bolt. I saw someone snap that bolt recently when they trie too hard to turn the engine.

Tom that is a good thought.
Still can't get any movement. This morning tap,tap and tried turning . No luck.
The good ,the frame is painted as well as the hubs, and r/e .Waiting on a couple of parts to come in then will start assembly after Christmas.
I traded some surplus parts for a fresh babbited block, complete eng and trans. Will have to look at the rods.

Tom,
If one did not have a tool such as the one you picture, one could go in through the starter opening with a 4 foot flat bar and pry against the flywheel.

Question, what are the chances of damaging the casting (block) by prying on that area?

Real good chance of damage by using a 4 foot bar.

I'd use one of those pry bars that look like a large screwdriver with a slight bend in the shaft, and maybe 15 to 18" long.

Starting to put my ft spindles and backing plates together .40 b/p and drums with the same spindles. My question is ,are the metal grease shields necessary on the ft? New seals for the drums.

Tom,
I borrowed my "unsticking" tool out and had to make another yesterday. I highly recommend getting the second one for just "separate shipping and handling". One to use and one to loan out. Ha Ha. Happy New Year.

Well some good progress. Head went to shop for cleaning and mill as necessary,.005 just to clean it up. Thats behind.
Wheels are painted and in the tire shop being put together with the tires. Eng is torn down, and I don't think it has been apart in its life. Pistons are std. Will be taking it to the shop tomorrow for degreasing and hone,ck to see if it needs boring. Fingers crossed.
When it's a roller pics will come.
I did splurge and get a after market eng mount.

Eng is getting close to assy. Going to deck the block just a bit to get a good sealing surface.
The tool from snyders ,to knock the guides out works very well.
Have the ft end under the car with the kingpins set up, and wheels on.Yesterday I got a wild hair and put my m/m in as well as the bell housing and trans. Just temporary to see where to position the firewall.
Will be tackling the T ,rear spring on Monday.
Tonight drive my T roadster to the local cruise in.63 and sunny, gas 3.05 gal. 3 days of pretty weather.
